A total of 88 youth participated in this year’s Youth Leadership Academy. The academy was held July 26 – 28. Activities included presentations from local Rotary Clubs, song and dance groups, and crafts. Each year, GOCARE takes more than 80 youth to participate in the annual Youth Leadership Academy, a special training camp in Nicaragua to teach young people essential leadership skills for success.
GOCARE creates opportunities to reduce poverty and inspire people towards independence through culturally responsive education, mentoring and awareness. The “Come Back to Give Back” program produces community leaders that teach students to become mentors in their own right. Now that’s education!
More than 1,300 students graduated from this year’s GOCARE education programs! GOCARE offers adult education courses in reading and math, pre-school, day care, computer instruction, English instruction and vocational training. The nonprofit also offers a university scholarship program and helps pay for students’ full college tuition and supplies in a private university setting.
